Hanunuo-Mangyan Multi-Purpose Ramit
The Ramit is a traditional multi-purpose wrap used by Hanunuo-Mangyan tribes for carrying children, gathering food, wood, and as clothing.
One of our most durable textiles, it is heavy & tightly woven like denim. The Ramit continues to be used for carrying a baby, as an ecobag, a skirt, or a blanket. The color is usually black and white with patterns inspired by flowers (busang) and even snail (bayuko) trails. Each purchase of these supports the efforts of students & teachers of PAMANA KA, a culture-based school for Mangyan youth, in preserving their culture while preparing the next generation for a global economy.
